Yeah! I have been looking for items that I can easily print and work with the boys but sometimes, I can't find what I am looking for. Today we will be talking about tools and how to use them...and if I can get them to stay focused we will even use them! I made these flash cards to reinforce the hands on experience and purpose of each tool.<br />

I thought it was fabulous and wanted to some day make one. A few months ago, I made Jeremy buy me some wooden dowels because I was going to get serious and REALLY make one!<br />
<br />
I found <a href="http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/07/casserole-carrier.html">this tutorial</a> that was super cute at Moda Bakeshop<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_ajN82wd0Qmpu5tzRNPWthAQgTJrNW19Sk6yz8HwMO200NI8suCQvtSAE54gU_BD0Wee_aGp_5a6p_FV6XJ0T-NnzMkDy7rIc2Z9MCrrU6m30r6pW-FfxtpP9zTanU645oQ00xG55XJY/s1600/Casserole+Carrier+MODA.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_ajN82wd0Qmpu5tzRNPWthAQgTJrNW19Sk6yz8HwMO200NI8suCQvtSAE54gU_BD0Wee_aGp_5a6p_FV6XJ0T-NnzMkDy7rIc2Z9MCrrU6m30r6pW-FfxtpP9zTanU645oQ00xG55XJY/s320/Casserole+Carrier+MODA.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Then over at Homemade by Jill she had <a href="http://homemadebyjill.blogspot.com/2011/01/insulated-casserole-carriers.html">this one</a>. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiljPUpMFICok3fGov9jp1cZosbLJOe0YLfz7nkryaom2pOwVooVhhx1Qn3Fy2SeD4NbsvFEesekLukqFjp-j12CnEBsxXNmN3uYp4XBnqpH3-rEgZwX5nC90KXKoXOVAuiF3Do2Us1PX8/s320/Casserole+Carrier+HM+by+Jill.JPG" width="320" /> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I was getting ready and decided to google a few more options. And found <a href="http://www.babylock.com/ftp/projects/casserole.pdf">this tutorial</a> at Babylock.com. I would not say that it is an excellent tutorial but it helped me get started and some general measurements. I think I still made mine too small, but it does work and I think it is really cute!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinRwNxbaP8hTUHonvIY3R6C6R5cptULZ1pgPm0a25uGuNIUCpgZesN-vz6c-e84u27exRlFJ0y9UlQMb5WpJ0piHbqZIzAz7uXum4hbhWq9MHB-gOXwpeYs6jWiPPgHmxmUOKCDVOb3Bc/s320/IMG_4798.JPG" width="320" /></div> The jean stripe is a pocket to hold a serving utensil. To get your casserole out. This was really easy and only took me about 3 hours, included doing some math, cutting and adding the flowers. So I would say this is a quick and easy project to just get some crafty juice flowing! On another note you can make it as a gift, personalize the casserole dish and make a matching hot mit! (I wish I came up with that idea but alas, thank you Jill at <a href="http://homemadebyjill.blogspot.com/">Homemade by Jill </a>for giving me the idea!<br />

I have been asked how I make these but hadn't made two alike but I think I have mastered it enough to have workable directions!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGACCugtwXRqV9-sKkIgg8RSpLOyT_bntHQ6PWS_urXeJ1ULXcHzpu_Q6dFDj1EC1xDWrOqcV2y1loeBHMM0M_w5t05qw7vRB_QNAMtbfk0BSNJCu2yavdhpdi22qg4An4ibO9cd6qpFM/s1600/IMG_3751edited.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGACCugtwXRqV9-sKkIgg8RSpLOyT_bntHQ6PWS_urXeJ1ULXcHzpu_Q6dFDj1EC1xDWrOqcV2y1loeBHMM0M_w5t05qw7vRB_QNAMtbfk0BSNJCu2yavdhpdi22qg4An4ibO9cd6qpFM/s320/IMG_3751edited.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>First we will do the innards! I decorated my wipes pockets. Take your wipe pocket and fold in half so it becomes 4.5" x11" The fold will be towards the middle of your clutch. I put binding on the edges to add a little something. If you would like to add the words you can use this <a href="http://alwaysmakingstuff.blogspot.com/search/label/Cool%20Product">product</a> or follow the direction at the bottom. For the wipes pocket fold in half so you end up with a 6.5" x 5.5" pocket. Again I decorated it the same as the wipes pocket. <b>NOTE</b>: This pocket will hold two diapers (Size four gets real tight, so you may want to make your pocket 8" x11" folded in half to be 8"x5.5")<br />
<br />
Take your lining piece and sew the top and bottom to the lining (I use about a 1/4" seam allowance in all directions!). You will end up with a whole like the picture shows.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOQVPhoRXsNY2obZOTf9qghgtkfkoAdjoheazk5w2xw3my8wRO8y9JJ4ZgCbUVwXrbhD3Wf8T0r_jfw2IF-yZVbcg49MgkAeCONQyq8CGc8AWoYZDTuszeQYqzixMGuwOpWyNyJqt0-mo/s1600/IMG_3752.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOQVPhoRXsNY2obZOTf9qghgtkfkoAdjoheazk5w2xw3my8wRO8y9JJ4ZgCbUVwXrbhD3Wf8T0r_jfw2IF-yZVbcg49MgkAeCONQyq8CGc8AWoYZDTuszeQYqzixMGuwOpWyNyJqt0-mo/s320/IMG_3752.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>On each end you will do a dart. Fold pocket flat towards the middle 1/2" then fold a little back towards the edge and fold again towards the middle. It will kind of look like an "s". Then pin it and do the same on the other side.When it is pinned on both sided the pocket should lay flat.<br />

Lay your batting down top with your outside piece with the right side up (away from the batting). Then put your lining on top with the right side (pockets) facing down. Sew the lining and outer piece together.<br />

As seen below, I put the soft side on the lining (see below) and the stiff side on the out side if the wipes pocket (you can't see it in the picture below). I would recommend placing a wipe container and some diapers in your clutch before putting on your velcro to see where it should fit the best. I had stitched the velcro on. For decorative purposes only I hand sewed on a button on the out side where the soft velcro piece is.<br />
<br />
Following this tutorial <a href="http://homemadebyjill.blogspot.com/2009/02/wipes-clutch-tutorial.html">here by Handmade by Jill</a>, I made a matching Diaper wipes case. I did find that I needed to make the material about an inch wider than what the pattern said. Maybe I didn't read the directions and that is what it says : )<br />
<br />
Here is a photo of the finished project.<br />

<b>Diaper and Wipes labels</b> (sorry no pictures)<br />
<br />
You will need fabric, freezer paper, and inkjet printer and some tape.<br />
<br />
On your word processor (or program of choice) type up what you what to print. Cut your fabric to the appropriate size. Cut a piece of freezer paper the same size. Iron the freezer paper and fabric with the wax side towards the fabric. This acts as a stabilizer when going through your printer.<br />
<br />
Print your picture/word on a plain piece of paper. Then tape your fabric facing up on the paper, placing it exactly where your want it to print. Make sure you tape down the edge that will feed first into the printer and a little piece on the opposite edge will help. If you are working with a thicker fabric, you can cut both the freezer paper and material to 8 1/2" by 11" and feed that directly into your printer. Place in your paper tray according to your printer directions. My HP pulls from the tray with the side it prints on facing down, so that is how I would place it in my printer.<br />
<br />
PLEASE NOTE: This has worked for me, but it has also jammed in my printer when the edges were loose. If you buy the expensive product, it will probably feed better. I would recommend staying close while printing so you can stop it before it gets too jammed. Just in case, but do this at your own risk.April J.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04024195968262556762noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-298042555655234670.post-75924940880254903882010-10-13T09:45:00.000-07:002010-10-13T09:45:17.991-07:00Man's tie into boys tieFollowing a <a href="http://hideousdreadfulstinky.blogspot.com/2009/09/tutorial-making-boys-tie-from-mans-tie.html">tutorial</a> at the best named blog ever...<a href="http://hideousdreadfulstinky.blogspot.com/">Hideous Dreadful Stinky</a>. It was $20 an unheard of price to pay for a t-shirt that he would out grow in a couple of months. What we didn't realize is that this shirt was WAY OUT OF PROPORTION! It was maybe the right length for a two year old but the width for a four or five year old. So I put Logan in it a couple of times then we packed it away for our future sons, which turns out to be son.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">As Jackson is now approaching two we went through the old clothes and came across this t-shirt. I knew I would never put Jackson in it though I love it. I thought since I am mildly crafty I could cut it apart and applique it on something. Then I realized it was too girly to do that, so I tried the shirt on the girls (yes the 3 year old who is the size of a 5 year old and the almost 6 year olds) besides the length it fit well so I decided to make it into a dress.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

These frames found <a href="http://alwaysmakingstuff.blogspot.com/2010/05/frames.html">here</a>, for 25 cents! I wanted to do silhouettes of my children and try my hand at refinishing the frames. They didn't turn out perfect because I do not read directions. For $1.50, directions are totally over-rated! WEll this week I got my rear in gear and finally finished my project and actually hung the frames.<br />

I am helping put together a baby shower this week and thought this was perfect since I was planning on doing cupcakes. Here is my attempt. I am pretty happy with it. Imagine, cupcakes in pink papers with white frosting piled on top and two mini oreos. Jeremy told me on a Monday morning that they were doing a secret pal thing at work and he needed a homemade item for her...THAT DAY! So I thought of a clutch. I came across a tutorial that I really did want to try and I had enough fabric to make this one!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGr_1PzX9jPVjljb5OVZvDB10HQSuhkIlHPFtmE_bg3YI3RdNgK0VUGAeKoYGtmKL-qG1DrXQv-P4mZr2mV00D0kw8INrVbuC10dsqgmXdWd5IP8XMg40bsVUA_4VJG7kJMNgK0L9d2_I/s1600/IMG_3006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGr_1PzX9jPVjljb5OVZvDB10HQSuhkIlHPFtmE_bg3YI3RdNgK0VUGAeKoYGtmKL-qG1DrXQv-P4mZr2mV00D0kw8INrVbuC10dsqgmXdWd5IP8XMg40bsVUA_4VJG7kJMNgK0L9d2_I/s320/IMG_3006.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is the inside, I did the pocket divider as well as the card holder.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The tutorial can be found <a href="http://www.skiptomylou.org/2010/07/28/gathered-clutch-tutorial/">here</a> by Anna of <a href="http://noodleheads.blogspot.com/">Noodlehead</a> which is a great resource for sewing!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A friend, Liz, had made a clutch that I instantly adored, it took some time, but when another friend, Camelia asked if I had made one, I asked Liz for the tutorial, which is found <a href="http://fromanigloo.blogspot.com/2010/03/scrappy-clutch.html">here</a> by Christine at <a href="http://www.fromanigloo.blogspot.com/">From an Igloo</a>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaR5nfr1oY15_IxYe72Y-JYjghU4C5hCwgmLlyvV9pcGq44Ce6Iw7SkBYpTxirSpgtbZeLPdawbBUU4vQEnzdHOdItS6Npuw_7wzAn8VG5BQrYn_5Wb9mvgH41bWPBO99mx4Li5TWlu1w/s1600/IMG_3137.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaR5nfr1oY15_IxYe72Y-JYjghU4C5hCwgmLlyvV9pcGq44Ce6Iw7SkBYpTxirSpgtbZeLPdawbBUU4vQEnzdHOdItS6Npuw_7wzAn8VG5BQrYn_5Wb9mvgH41bWPBO99mx4Li5TWlu1w/s320/IMG_3137.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAmc7R6tMDyvVjuv51RP0tjlokw7Wot5l-48goUSNEt-pQNtJVFMDVDD0f5hmiZKr1H-oMqlJSPzKYufCLCMVV9EcRVfyMwHqJm9kF0q9Bz6ZiVSxIcGH2VaNyewwcHaxsRfMr8QxETdw/s1600/IMG_3132.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAmc7R6tMDyvVjuv51RP0tjlokw7Wot5l-48goUSNEt-pQNtJVFMDVDD0f5hmiZKr1H-oMqlJSPzKYufCLCMVV9EcRVfyMwHqJm9kF0q9Bz6ZiVSxIcGH2VaNyewwcHaxsRfMr8QxETdw/s320/IMG_3132.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This tutorial was a little harder to follow. Attaching the band at the top was the only part that was confusing.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Hopefully this makes sense but I unfolded the top part into a tube. Then putting the tube over the purse right side fabrics together. (make sure the outside fabric is on top) I sewed that then turned the tube right. then with the crease from ironing I pinned it on the inside, so it created a top stitched look on the outside, but sewed the lining on the inside. When I make another I will try and take pictures so it makes better sense!</div>April J.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04024195968262556762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-298042555655234670.post-82240102460074149052010-05-28T08:51:00.000-07:002010-05-28T08:51:24.638-07:00Car Seat Tent<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">My new favorite shower gifts are the car seat tent and the diaper wipes clutch. I saw some fabric at JoAnn's and I knew I had to make a car seat tent for a little girl. In our ward there will be be 10 babies born this year, so I will continue to have lots of opportunities to make some baby things. This it the car seat tent that I made for my friend.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSgm4q134Tro9KJ1r6g31rHIw0iQwBfFmYNNJ0jm-acyTZyNqozsVeMASy9V2dTmdzZ-s8Ml_eiXDb0GPrYDbizkkIDASLdNSwABQF94izWWYIF_6ISWQZkXyS2F4am8gwHyWF-HG1bbA/s1600/IMG_2426.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSgm4q134Tro9KJ1r6g31rHIw0iQwBfFmYNNJ0jm-acyTZyNqozsVeMASy9V2dTmdzZ-s8Ml_eiXDb0GPrYDbizkkIDASLdNSwABQF94izWWYIF_6ISWQZkXyS2F4am8gwHyWF-HG1bbA/s320/IMG_2426.JPG" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">With the <a href="http://alwaysmakingstuff.blogspot.com/2010/05/happy-anniversary.html">Mr. & Mrs. Pillows</a> I had to use piping, and I found out it is really easy, so I thought I would add it to the car seat tent. Then after using the <a href="http://alwaysmakingstuff.blogspot.com/2010/05/i-am-in-love-with-this-product.html">PhotoFabric</a>, I thought I could use freezer paper and run it through the printer. So I did and "Monogramed" the car seat tent.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Or possibly after the first wash it falls apart?</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Well today at Joanns I found a new product...well new to me anyway. It is PhotoFabric by Crafter's Images. There is twill fabric, canvas, cotton poplin and silk. It comes in paper type sheets and on a roll 8 1/2"x120." You can print directly on your fabric. I am not sure how well it will hold up to routine washing but I just printed something and it looks fabulous. If it was just my kid I would show you but it is Logan's class and don't want to give too much info.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2l0MqLVV9m11SflKE_y_3lKvrbaq2fmMyrmAIHkDLuRjm7fFsFa2AAHkPyk7E8POdGvURvvkq65iSjYFNfnU7d1v9x9ZIa2w0gOKpeDmx_zgmVqEFt141-AdZgDiws1egQXZxtLKnKAE/s1600/PhotoFabric.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2l0MqLVV9m11SflKE_y_3lKvrbaq2fmMyrmAIHkDLuRjm7fFsFa2AAHkPyk7E8POdGvURvvkq65iSjYFNfnU7d1v9x9ZIa2w0gOKpeDmx_zgmVqEFt141-AdZgDiws1egQXZxtLKnKAE/s320/PhotoFabric.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;">My mind is realing with ideas! So awesome! Hummmm, I wonder if you ironed freezer paper to the back of any fabric, would that work as well??? I will get back to you!</div>April J.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04024195968262556762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-298042555655234670.post-9457288766038860452010-05-24T16:18:00.000-07:002010-05-24T16:18:45.441-07:00A Skirt for my girls.<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">When Jeremy's grandma passed away, I inherited a bunch of fabric. No one else was interested so I took it all and figured I would take what I wanted since it was probably going to be trashed. Also I could learn to sew and wouldn't worry too much. I came across this fabric and new it would be a darling skirt. So I sat down this morning and made this little number. I am proud of how it turned out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8hubl-HXw3iCSQPHIm18QQxVV7lkXubzHsSFxnsFdeoOGmlIztfL78d4oJ0v_WdvWJ7RjQFX1qb8lmkmPD_Gsd_knV6K9AWM7godNZU7tagodxcZpgq2fdqublUD7eJo1KbKbK3XD2oQ/s1600/IMG_2417.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8hubl-HXw3iCSQPHIm18QQxVV7lkXubzHsSFxnsFdeoOGmlIztfL78d4oJ0v_WdvWJ7RjQFX1qb8lmkmPD_Gsd_knV6K9AWM7godNZU7tagodxcZpgq2fdqublUD7eJo1KbKbK3XD2oQ/s320/IMG_2417.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

It is always so much fun, but it is soooooo HARD to come up with stuff. I have done family home evening kits befroe, but wanted to change it up a little so I took a few ideas and put them together.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div>In our stake they are putting a focus on growing the stake spiritually so I tried to go along with that theme and put together a family basket to make family scripture study easy, as well as a family home evening lesson and lastly just for fun, they say family dinner time is so beneficial to children. So I put in a jar of Table Talk questions.<br />
<br />
For Family Scripture Study:<br />
I got the idea from <a href="http://mormonwoman.org/2009/08/02/we-believe-family-scripture-study/">this post on Family Scripture Study</a>.<br />
I put a covered Book of Mormon. The idea is from <a href="http://kari-youcanmakeit.blogspot.com/2009/11/creative-guest-craftaholics-anonymous.html">here.</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0usKi9dLLKCDrPWxxDrW4lwlcotBvh2grwB56hhKBWOASZw9naWtD4pt7Qdwxt286tgftzSx6hST6ejsbmwuVnH-F9TNkii84nAJzy87phoClybkxgr2k0d5SGt2hh0dB5sRaEAucHAY/s1600/IMG_2397.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0usKi9dLLKCDrPWxxDrW4lwlcotBvh2grwB56hhKBWOASZw9naWtD4pt7Qdwxt286tgftzSx6hST6ejsbmwuVnH-F9TNkii84nAJzy87phoClybkxgr2k0d5SGt2hh0dB5sRaEAucHAY/s320/IMG_2397.JPG" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Laminated Book of Mormon Scripture Mastery Cards printed from <a href="http://seminary.lds.org/content/scripture-mastery/scripture-mastery-bom.pdf">here</a>.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKdlYm45fcPWCiC60ri5ZtdHc7JcamM34BbS-sXSCOSLNXmUkpJSo0YIByT69bkxUsW7KA3jLNlEt4ZmEhinJhwd5JvN805sViUH0LDvjUDCdlD1zBxJwgXAJqyrO_1dpjDKMA9jtDH4k/s1600/IMG_2398.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKdlYm45fcPWCiC60ri5ZtdHc7JcamM34BbS-sXSCOSLNXmUkpJSo0YIByT69bkxUsW7KA3jLNlEt4ZmEhinJhwd5JvN805sViUH0LDvjUDCdlD1zBxJwgXAJqyrO_1dpjDKMA9jtDH4k/s320/IMG_2398.JPG" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

I have decided I am going to jump on the silhouette band wagon. I am going to work on a project an post when it is all done. I am just in need of some black spray paint and some super cute fabric...</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">So my goal was to find 6 ornamental oval frames. I have been trying the internet, but the antique ones are a little more pricey. I wanted to pay about $1 maybe two if they were in perfect shape. Last night I went to the dollar store to pick up a couple things and decided to check out their frames. Guess what i found:</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxwSrKZO5dgjM5CjiLlh5Xt55pzubWyT1Bfc-gzHI987WyWLMzuxiFCBR7vCCZevNcK4XydknBWwdmbxKAevEVawFC7tkdGa-gnw9W_hmwif277xJlpDLfe_HY66BIIMi26xwCv_RjL-I/s1600/IMG_2158.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxwSrKZO5dgjM5CjiLlh5Xt55pzubWyT1Bfc-gzHI987WyWLMzuxiFCBR7vCCZevNcK4XydknBWwdmbxKAevEVawFC7tkdGa-gnw9W_hmwif277xJlpDLfe_HY66BIIMi26xwCv_RjL-I/s320/IMG_2158.JPG" wt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">They were just what I was looking for, I decided to fork out the $6.00 so I could move forward with my idea. When I went to pay they were only a quarter! Granted they are super cheap and plastic, but I don't want them for <span style="background-color: yellow;"><span style="background-color: white;">hands on </span></span><span style="background-color: white;">use. That</span> makes it all worth it! I removed the mirrors (maybe there is another project I can use them for...).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

It was a lot of fun working as a presidency getting them together. And the <strike>ones that broke</strike> samples tasted awesome.<br />

Lauren ate like 12 strawberries, only one coated it chocolate.<br />
<br />
Note: According to the Hershey's website, you add 2 TB of shortening to 12 ounces of chocolate for a nice smoothe finnish. Butter, margerine andoil have water and that will affect the chocolate!April J.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04024195968262556762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-298042555655234670.post-9871063482961002042010-05-04T22:24:00.000-07:002010-05-04T22:25:00.462-07:00Silhouette Quilt<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Using the same technique that I used on the <a href="http://alwaysmakingstuff.blogspot.com/2010/02/wedding-shower-gift.html">Mr. and Mrs. Pillows</a>, a few of us moms are putting together a quilt for a retiring teacher. I was introduced to <a href="http://www.eletent.com/">Eletent</a>. I thought it was a fabulous idea. Then a friend got one last year for her new baby, oh how I covetted it! Well now that I am trying to be crafty I searched the web and found several tutorials that showed me how to make one. I finally did...for some one else. I am sad to be done having babies so I won't be making these things for my use, but hopefully those that I make them for enjoy them!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here are some tutorials that I used for inspiration. There are things that I loved and things that I was too intimidated to try. So here is my research. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">For the fabric I used a fabric pack from JoAnn's, basically it was 6 fat Quarters for the quilt top and 1 yard of flannel for the backing. I cut each of the six different fabrics in strips of 3, 5, and 7 inch strips then cut those strips in half. Then I sewed all the same size stips together and cut them for the proper lengths so the seams didn't line up. I tried to not make it into a pattern so it looked a little bit eclectic, yet was very linear. I think the overall size was 40" by 34". (I had enough left over to make the top of the Diaper/Wipe Clutch but needed a litle bit more fabric for the inside.)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Like I mentioned before I am fearful of binding so I sewed the two pieces right sides facing together (is there a right side to flannel?) then sewed, turned and top stitched around the edge.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I am not trained at sewing so I feel I am not that good, but the more I read the more I learn that most people just pick it up and do it, imperfections and all. I am having a blast and can not wait to get my mind around my next project! I am working on a copy cat pattern of a commercial thing, we will see how it goes!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"></div>April J.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04024195968262556762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-298042555655234670.post-4399342824246434312010-02-27T08:46:00.000-08:002010-02-27T08:46:26.005-08:00Wedding shower gift<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: justify;">I came across this idea for pillow cases. For the life of me I can not find the idea, it was for a bridal shower. I am getting old enough that all I get invited to is baby showers, I am too young to know the people as their parents friend and too old to be their age...sad isn't it! So I was thrilled when I got invited to a bridal shower (a friend's sister) and got to seize the opportunity to give this gift:</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNNw_F_4N6pJ0QJiMf-UDbxQVZ39k0LW6juaAbo5kGSvmCRD6k0LYMVhGsq5HWqToJMkJxQaWND_34AKcKlJfmjsGkBNL2z-TAEx6_Ja43fR6yxWKoeg-V6gsljeT-Vx31EcEcAArrwgE/s1600-h/IMG_1404.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" kt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNNw_F_4N6pJ0QJiMf-UDbxQVZ39k0LW6juaAbo5kGSvmCRD6k0LYMVhGsq5HWqToJMkJxQaWND_34AKcKlJfmjsGkBNL2z-TAEx6_Ja43fR6yxWKoeg-V6gsljeT-Vx31EcEcAArrwgE/s320/IMG_1404.JPG" /></a></div><br />

I think of it as a communitcation tool and pretty cool in the decoration department as well. I followed <a href="http://homemadebyjill.blogspot.com/">Homemade by Jill's</a> Tutorial for a <a href="http://kari-youcanmakeit.blogspot.com/2009/07/guest-blogger-homemade-by-jill.html">Silhouette Pillow</a> when she guest posted on <a href="http://kari-youcanmakeit.blogspot.com/">U Create</a>. It was a lot of fun and think I might want to stock up on pillows!</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">Just a note the font I used was Harrington, The font size was 300 for Mr. and Mrs. and 200 for the ampersand (and sign). Another idea if you only want to make one is "Tonight?" and "Not Tonight!" A friend told me her parents had one and it was funny because you always new who was in the room last! I stamped "in the MOOD!" using a Stampin' up Alphabet and their Craft ink.</div>April J.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04024195968262556762noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-298042555655234670.post-18949696213374466462010-02-15T10:35:00.000-08:002010-02-18T10:36:24.666-08:00Twirl Charm pack skirt<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">I followed the tutorial found at One Hip Mom's Blog, you can find the tutorial <a href="http://one-hip-mom.blogspot.com/2010/01/charm-pack-twirl-skirt-tutorial.html">here</a>. I followed a tutorial that I can't find anymore but similar to this <a href="http://morganmoore.typepad.com/one_more_moore/2006/11/oreo_pops.html">blog post</a>. The first turned out OK but towards the end they were pretty near perfect! Once I got the hang of it, it became easy. Here is the tutorial that I followed over at <a href="http://www.howdoesshe.com/2009/12/oreo-cookie-sucker-tutorial/">How Does She?</a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxjIAVySr_qCy_IU7H1JiBFCHA65haFh3VOkxmkzWJzwqk40lHX27RUXajx47aWGLNg3av0vEhx01A95jTbkU0rZi_982cT-KUx0BGNAehjcpHSN5vK-qmY1sLc0gkYuyo-YfwWJinzEA/s1600-h/IMG_1290.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ct="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxjIAVySr_qCy_IU7H1JiBFCHA65haFh3VOkxmkzWJzwqk40lHX27RUXajx47aWGLNg3av0vEhx01A95jTbkU0rZi_982cT-KUx0BGNAehjcpHSN5vK-qmY1sLc0gkYuyo-YfwWJinzEA/s320/IMG_1290.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">I found that if you opened the cookies (I used Double Stuf) when you pressed in the stick if you turned the stick while pressingyou had less breakage. Also when dipping I held the cookie with the stick going straight up and spooned the chocolate over it. Then using a slotted spoon I scooped it up and tapped the spoon on the side of the dish to get off the extra chocolate. Then I was able to push the oreo off dragging the bottom along the side of the spoon onto the wax paper. The tapping created a nice smoothe finish on the top.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">Then for our primary kids at church I made Sugar cookie pops using some friend's pans. You can see the pans <a href="http://www.wilton.com/store/site/department.cfm?dc=6.4.2&killnav=1">here</a>.</div><div align="center" class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigF0vI_h0mhJ2GjryWJt2YfslBKBiwVGkSTE5WLe6rywA2YnYQLKsaXIpWhXAcG2mDPHor9WCEcGvd_dAvg03W8Eg4SVhr7KXYJv5JQrVQWjqJjTRIlHDOMwR-91LsWU3gzsHRpRGImTw/s1600-h/IMG_1304.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ct="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigF0vI_h0mhJ2GjryWJt2YfslBKBiwVGkSTE5WLe6rywA2YnYQLKsaXIpWhXAcG2mDPHor9WCEcGvd_dAvg03W8Eg4SVhr7KXYJv5JQrVQWjqJjTRIlHDOMwR-91LsWU3gzsHRpRGImTw/s320/IMG_1304.JPG" /></a></div><div align="center" class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">It was a cookie pop kind of day.</div>April J.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04024195968262556762noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-298042555655234670.post-17428139688657571022010-01-29T23:09:00.000-08:002010-01-29T23:17:59.638-08:00BannersI made a cute banner for a friend's baby shower. I went to another friend's house and used her Big Shots Sizzix Die Cutting machine, and I will tell you that I am trying to make a reasonable offer to Jeremy trying to prove to him I need one! It has been the only room that I truly did get to decorate. When all the girls moved to one room I changed the pictures but hadn't gotten around to livening the up with color. Their walls are white so the white frame and white matting blends together. Here are the completed frames. The frames are simple and add a little personality to the bland plainess that is white.</div>April J.http://www.blogger.com/profile/04024195968262556762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-298042555655234670.post-12118056262720627202010-01-29T22:55:00.000-08:002010-01-29T23:00:27.439-08:00Black Apple Doll<div>I have now made about three of these and am willing to experiment. For my birthday I got a grown up purse...well a bigger purse so I wouldn't have to carry a diaper bag unless I wanted to. It is big enough for the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">necessities</span>. I have seen a couple Diaper/Wipe clutches and wanted to make one. I didn't find a pattern so I came up with this one. I will make another one soon and try to do a tutorial, since those are all the rave. <div> <img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432420487118980994" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5Ok9RiFyGodPpnjnydFlIJmEsZEpTFt4a7UoO7ArhwN1D7F808sguFFs4-femL_JVif3sbmuLazDfAOzldFBzVCMlSgr0pYCANbAQ-WczdYuwhHAerbu4s-A8Imx2JYXYR4xGMZ2OP88/s400/IMG_1098.JPG" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432420498015452946" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5SjskV7ceRZU6xDz03s5gFapwHB7LdCj7Uu6bSHaIN5IlGUjswLueo5JBfN3IQ78tytFzAHcflVJdxFILjM2GKZuPzvO58pQW6UMu6Wukbyo9yPAuhDpx28WBiASngsVfeWPbgyQce4I/s400/IMG_1103.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432420508289575890" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht2ax0yS3KIq2IIXWfXSObIxoJweH8HH96Kbbv8wsUeNtX1vSDFk_MLo-pEF05BbYwizs_G0uOpSPMMbpWmcSnl5zPiz-ekF_IyFw5b6p9QP1TkTgdzFEDX2BFnQt_K9kcp1F9Lgs-S64/s400/IMG_1100.JPG" /> <div><div>I did my first successful button hole.
